Why we made it free

At CutYourURL, we believe in democratizing access to powerful tools. We understand that not everyone has the resources to pay for premium URL shortening services. By making CutYourURL free, we aim to level the playing field and empower individuals and businesses of all sizes to create and share short links effortlessly.

We also believe in the spirit of open-source software. By releasing CutYourURL as an open-source project, we encourage collaboration and innovation within the developer community. Together, we can build a better URL shortening solution that meets the diverse needs of users worldwide.

So join us on this journey of simplifying and enhancing the way we share links. Together, let's make the web a more accessible and connected place, one short link at a time.

Is it really better?

Well, it depends. We are constantly improving it, and we are trying to make it better than bitly's. We are trying to make it feature-rich, and we are trying to make it user-friendly. We are trying to make it better than any other URL shortener out there.

However, we are dependent on free services like PythonAnywhere for hosting. We cannot gurantee 99% uptimes like bitly, but we are trying our best to make it better.

Althought this won't be going further without your support, we are happy to work for free, but we need your support to keep it running.
